Arctic Seascape Announces Chainlink VRF Integration To Power BLOCKLORDS Title Rewards
Arctic Seascape, the studio behind the award-winning grand strategy medieval game BLOCKLORDS, is proud to announce an upcoming integration with Chainlink VRF to power a Title incentivization rewards system for players on the Ethereum blockchain. This new system will allow warriors to move up the ranks of nobility and earn access to rare items, as well as cryptocurrency rewards based on their performance and achievements — all trustlessly distributed using smart contracts. This is a key integration towards our vision of creating a blockchain-based game that provides real-world value to users with scalability, decentralization, and deep gameplay, and we're thrilled to be making it with Chainlink!
Currently, in open beta, Blocklords is our flagship cross-blockchain online game allowing players to create an NFT-backed hero, amass a powerful army, collect tradable rare items, and conquer a massive open world. Allowing for NFTs and other resources on both the Ethereum and Matic blockchains, BLOCKLORDS is designed to allow players access to blockchain resources and game features without excessive fees or cumbersome interfaces.

The Title rewards system is our next step in creating a robust in-game economy that rewards players with real-world value for their playing time. This will allow warriors to earn a wide variety of weekly Titles that gives them access to randomly distributed rare items and cryptocurrency rewards, with each earned Title giving a player a higher chance of winning an award. One example is the Ethereum Warrior title, which will split a pool of ETH rewards among all players who win the Title on a weekly basis, as well as a jackpot to one lucky Title holder. These rewards will incentivize more active community involvement, leading to a richer and more robust gameplay experience.

Chainlink VRF is a key technical integration that allows us to prove these Title rewards were distributed in a fair manner. Chainlink VRF is a source of on-chain randomness where users can audit the blockchain to verify that the results of in-game actions relying on randomness were provably fair and authentically random. This allows studios like ours to access previously unattainable or opaque incentivization and in-game economy tools like loot boxes, which are widely available and popular in legacy games, while simultaneously maintaining a high degree of cryptographic security and transparency.
